about

Ubud W&R Festival

The four-day Writers and Readers Festival was founded by the non-profit organization in 2004, initially serving as a healing project after the 2002 Bali bombing that killed 202 people and injured 209 in Kuta. It is held annually in October, and the lectures with workshops always focus on a specific theme. For example, in 2022, the theme was: The Unification of Humanity

Proceeds from ticket sales are used for free public events, free workshops for local children and high school students and their teachers, and to subsidize attendance for residents who could not otherwise afford to attend the festival.

Admission for one day of the festival costs IDR 1,430,000 (approx. USD 96) for international visitors and IDR 500,000 (approx. USD 33) for international students.
