Soma Ribek
The Soma Ribek ceremony is the second day after Saraswati day. Soma is Monday, and Ribek means full or generous/rich. Figuratively, it is a full or rich Monday.
On this day, the Balinese thank the god of prosperity, Dewi Sri, for food, drink, and prosperity for the future. Offerings are placed at places where rice is usually stored. In honor of the goddess, rice plants are also not allowed to be processed on this day. In addition, locals are reminded to eat good food, not overeat, and be self-sufficient as individuals and within the family. Maintaining good food sources then means avoiding global food shortages.
Soma Ribek's philosophy is that good food and drink are the third most important thing in a person's life.
Soma Ribek is celebrated once every 210 days (1 year according to the Balinese calendar Pawukon)
